Without sounding Gumpish (again) I do believe that we are a big ole jar of jellybeans. A group of different flavors and colors all put together in a jar to coexist with one another. This was personified in the closing ceremonies of the summer olympics. Not only did the athletes march in all mixed together, but later on they formed rings of dancers with all different countries and peoples invloved in each circle. Thousands of fans and athletes from all over the world in a controlled (sort of) setting, and yet instead of finding differences they all join together in the spirit of celebration. They all become one as Olympians, They all become one as athletes. The all become members of only one race, the human race. It may seem to simple, but it's true. The spirit of what the games were meant to do has not ben lost. Yes, along the way things have been politically changed a few times, but in todays world is there anything more refreshing than seeing thirty to fifty people from a dozen or so nations holding hands and dancing in celebration? I think not.
We are a big ole jar of jellybeans, and if we all different at the same time we are all the same. We are all people, and no matter what, that doesnt change.
Teach your children, be a jellybean not a hater.
